Southeast Asia’s Complex Sports Sepak Takraw
Sepak takraw is a Malaysian word. ‘Sepak’ means ‘to kick’ and ‘takraw’ means ‘ball.’ It developed in the 15th and 16thcenturies in Thailand and Malaysia from competitions to see who bounced the ball the most with their head or feet. It is a game which is like a mix of soccer and volleyball, played using your feet and head but not hands, and uses using a rattan ball. It was adopted as an official sport from the 11th Asian Games in Beijing in 1990.
